For two weeks in a row in the regular weekly Gallup Korea poll in the last two weeks of April, the approval rating for Yoon Suk-yeol 윤석열 당선인 was lower than the approval for the outgoing president Moon Jae-in 문재인 대통령.
Gallup Korea's regular weekly polls began in 1987 with South Korea's democratization. This is the first time in the history of the Gallup polls that an outgoing president was more popular than the incoming president.
In the regular poll for the third week of April, Moon's approval was 44%, while Yoon's approval was 42%. In the poll for the fourth week of April, Moon's approval was 45%, Yoon's approval 43%.
