According to the latest report by the Bureau of Statistics 통계청, 25.9% of wage workers earned more than KRW 4m (USD 2.9k) per month, a record high. A plurality of wage workers, 32.1%, made between KRW 2m and 3m per month, also an increase year-over-year.
The finance and insurance industry had the highest proportion of workers (49.5%) earning more than KRW 4m per month. In the manufacturing industry, the sector that employs the most wage workers, 36.6% earned more than KRW 4m per month, an increase of 3.7% year-over-year.
