According to a December 24 announcement by the Ministry of Interior 행정안전부, 20% of South Korea’s population is 65 years old or older - making it a super-aged society according to the United Nations’ classification scheme.

Twenty-two countries around the world, including Germany, Japan, Spain and the Netherlands, are considered super-aged societies.
