SK Hynix announced on March 12 that it won approval from the US Committee on Foreign Investment in the US (CFIUS) to acquire Intel’s NAND flash memory division for USD 9b. Following the acquisition, SK Hynix is likely to vault into second place in the global NAND memory market share with approximately 22%, behind Samsung Electronics 삼성전자 which holds 31% of the market.
SK Hynix previously won approval from the US Federal Trade Commission, but still needs other approvals from regulatory bodies in the United Kingdom and China.
