According to the February 12 survey by KBS News, 54% of respondents favored mandatory military duty for women. Somewhat surprisingly, support for female conscription was broad-based and bipartisan: 69% of supporters of the conservative People Power Party 국민의힘 were in favor, as were 53% of the main liberal opposition Democratic Party 민주당’s supporters and 66% of supporters of the minor leftist Justice Party 정의당.
Men overwhelmingly favored drafting women (66%), but even among women a plurality (43% in favor to 40% opposed) supported military duty.
