According to the regular annual survey on social unity by the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs 한국보건사회연구소, 59% of respondents said they would not date or marry anyone whose politics are different from theirs.

Overall, respondents rated the unity of South Korean society at a 4.2 out of 10, a score similar to the 2018 and 2019 surveys, in which respondents rated social cohesion at an average 4.17. The score rose to 4.59 in 2021 in the wake of South Korea’s successful response to the COVID-19 pandemic, then reverted to the current level.
