According to a survey by Hankook Research 한국리서치 around the first anniversary of the October 7 terrorist attack by Hamas, 62% of respondents said they were paying attention to the Israel-Palestine conflict, down from 71% at the same time last year. Similarly, 43% said the conflict was an important issue for them, down from 53% last year.
A plurality of the respondents said both Israel and Hamas were to blame for initiating (37%) and continuing (41%) the war. However, more respondents blamed Israel (25%) than Hamas (19%) for continuing the war. Similarly, the percentage of respondents expressing sympathy for Israelis dropped by 13% year-over-year.
