First Lady Kim Geon-hee 김건희 영부인 continues to be a millstone around the neck of the Yoon Suk-yeol 윤석열 administration. According to a joint survey by four leading pollsters from September 26, 65% of respondents were in favor of a special prosecutor investigation of the First Lady. Even in the conservative strongholds of Daegu 대구, Busan 부산, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province 경상북도 and Gyeongsangnam-do Province 경상남도, 58% of respondents were in favor of the investigation.
On September 19, the National Assembly 국회 passed a bill providing for a special prosecutor investigation of the First Lady. President Yoon Suk-yeol 윤석열 대통령 is expected to veto it.
