According to the Bureau of Statistics 통계청, 42.8% of Koreans in their 20s said it was acceptable to have children without getting married, a record high. The result is a significant increase from 2014, when 30.3% of respondents said out-of-wedlock childbirth was acceptable. 1.9k babies were born out of wedlock in 2023, making up 4.7% of all births.
